Turku University of Applied Sciences achieved the highest level of five (5) on a scale of 1 to 5. Development work has been done to improve transparency, as the previous monitoring was at level 3.
This time, the monitoring was more thematic. It uses existing comparable data and collects additional information through a questionnaire.
– Cooperation was a new theme and we did really well. This is explained by the fact that different actors in the organisation are actively involved in national and international networks,” says Marita Ahola, Information Services Manager.
Open Science and Research (AVOTT) monitoring focuses on the development and practice of Open Science principles and recommendations in higher education. The organisation was examined from the perspective of different aspects of openness (publishing, data and infrastructure, learning and culture) and ways of promoting it (guiding documents, services and collaboration).
– Openness is a pervasive theme that we strive to make part of everyday life, both in research and development and in teaching. We have been working on systematic development, and the monitoring results speak for themselves,” says Head of RDI and Global Engagement Johanna Krappe.
AVOTT monitoring supports the development of open science in organisations and the implementation of agreed objectives, and provides an overall picture of the state of openness in Finnish science and research.
Monitoring 2024 covers all Finnish universities and polytechnics and those research institutes whose data can be found on the Science Research Service.
