Educating experts in Emergency Care

The core task of emergency care is to treat suddenly ill and disabled patients, and to transport patients to further treatment if necessary. The work also includes the assessment and guidance of the patient’s need for non-urgent care. After graduation you can find employment as an emergency care nurse in an ambulance of a rescue department, a hospital district or a private company, a field management unit, or in medical and rescue helicopters.

Studying to become an emergency care nurse is practical and diverse. The studies make extensive use of different teaching and learning methods, digital learning environments and applications. It is a functional profession, so there are plenty of workshop and simulation exercises.

The degree programme in Emergency Care includes both emergency care and nursing degrees. The studies in emergency care and medical care proceed side by side throughout the studies. After graduation you can work also as a registered nurse in emergency departments, surgery and intensive care units, for example.
