Sustainable textile systems: Co-creating resource-wise business for Finland in global textile networks (FINIX)
Project duration
Source of funding
Research Council of Finland
Total funding
15000 €
The consortium, led by Aalto University, is conducting a broad-based study on the transformation of the textile sector into a more sustainable industry. The role of Turku University of Applied Sciences is to examine systemic change in the textile sector from the perspective of governance: should change be driven by legislation, voluntary governance developed by companies and NGOs, or a combination of all these?
The perspective of systemic change can also be applied to regulatory ecosystems, which is the role of Turku University of Applied Sciences in this consortium.
The consortium is a continuation of the previous project (1 June 2019 – 31 August 2022) funded by the Academy of Finland, which focused on textile materials that replace the current unsustainable materials, and (digital and other) services that enable keeping textile materials in use cycles longer than at present, thus reducing their ecological footprint.
