React ERDF: KERPUR – Ceramic demolition waste in the circular economy
Project duration
Source of funding
European Regional Development Fund
Total funding
686 810 €
The objective of the project is to define criteria for recycling and to identify new uses for ceramic waste. The recycling of ceramic waste is piloted together with companies. Organized collection of ceramic waste is lacking in Finland, and utilization rate is low. Ceramic materials go often to mixed demolition waste at demolition sites, which is more expensive for demolition contactors than sorted waste.
The KERPUR project develops the collection, pre-treatment and re-use of ceramic waste from demolition sites. The aim is also to demonstrate the re-use of higher processing rates and values for ceramic waste and to support companies in moving from pilot experiments to larger-scale utilization of ceramic waste.
