The purpose of the project is to study the logistics of waste transport organised by the property owner and to carry out a logistical comparison of the waste transport systems of residential properties in the Uusikaupunki area. The investigation focuses on the transport of mixed and liquid slur waste. The Waste Management Committee will provide the project implementer with the initial and other necessary data material on the current situation of waste management collection, which is necessary for the preparation of the survey.
The project examines the following entities:
1) The regional distribution and logistics of the waste transport companies currently operating in waste transport organised by the property owner in Uusikaupunki.
2) The logistical efficiency of the current situation is compared to waste transport organised by the municipality, where the municipality defines the contract areas and tenders the contractors for each area.
3) Study the environmental impacts of waste transport systems, such as the impact on the traffic volumes and emissions of waste vehicles.
4) The aim is also to familiarise students with the special characteristics of waste logistics.
5) Compare different waste transport systems; logistical efficiency, environmental impact.
