Lifelong learning among radiographers on Artificial Intelligence (AI) – the development of an AI educational curriculum based on micro-credentials (across the European Union) – Radiography4Future

Duration of the project
Source of funding
Erasmus+
Total funding
400 000 €
The demographic development in EU is leading to an increased patient workload and a higher demand for imaging to support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. In radiography, AI has and will always have an essential role. Therefore, there is a need for students and radiography graduates to acquire a comparative knowledge of AI across EU.

The aim of Radiography4Future is to develop a set of online micro-credentials on AI in radiography to be oPered across the EU. Radiography4Future will shape micro-credential courses on AI including content, didactics, and technical foundation of both generic and radiography-specific micro-credentials. These will be piloted and evaluated at partner sites, and built upon a scoping review, qualitative interviews, surveys, literature on AI in radiology along with current and pipeline knowledge on AI among radiographers, and finally combined with expertise in online education and didactics. Developing micro-credentials on AI for radiographers across EU will bridge the gap between formal education and the needs of a fast-changing society and labour market and is likely to support equal high-quality services in the radiographer profession in EU. Micro-credentials support lifelong learning and empowers individuals to acquire and maintain skills, adapt to new technologies. The generic micro[1]credential courses on AI can also be extended to other educational fields beyond radiograph
