Greywater and Stormwater Application Innovations Course (HAHU)

Strengthening capabilities in stormwater and greywater management

The project will create a course on Circular Economy Innovations in Greywater and Stormwater to strengthen skills in greywater and stormwater management, promoting environmentally friendly and climate-resilient solutions in urban and island environments. The aim is to develop innovative, energy-efficient and biodiversity-friendly applications that improve the amenity of living environments. The training will provide practical tools for sustainable water management.

Climate change causes extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rainfall and floods, which require effective stormwater solutions. Stormwater solutions can manage large amounts of rainfall and reduce the damage caused by floods. In accordance with circular economy principles, stormwater can be reused, for example, for irrigation and toilet flushing.

The project creates training aimed at various professional groups that influence urban water management and sustainable development solutions in their work. Such professional groups include urban planners and designers, developers, architects, contractors, and infrastructure engineers.

After the course, the student will possess practical tools to effectively manage stormwater and greywater. Additionally, the student will be able to identify new circular economy opportunities related to stormwater and greywater in the environment and will have strengthened their innovation skills and teamwork abilities that can be applied to urban infrastructure development.
