The DroneAvanti project aims to develop the Avanti area as a future fuel-free zone. The project will test the viability of drone transport and the introduction of new technologies. The Avanti region will act as a carbon-neutral pioneer of clean solutions, innovation and sustainable growth. The project will contribute to Finland’s carbon neutrality goal, especially in terms of energy efficiency, climate change adaptation and innovation in productive technologies. Ecological responsibility in regional and urban development also involves thinking of the built transport environment as part of the ecosystem.
The piloting of drone transport at the Avant Innovation Campus in Lieto aims to:
1) To respond to the need of Lieto Innovation Campus companies to develop drone transport in the most cost-effective, safe, sustainable and innovative way possible by identifying the boundary conditions for drone transport in terms of land and airspace use, legislation and air traffic control, as well as the technical requirements for drone-carrying cargo.
2) To assess business opportunities through pilot flights and to contribute to the emergence of new service concepts around drone transport.
3) To look for new approaches to traditional business-to-business cooperation in a business district like Avant, and to create a working model of drone transport issues and find answers to them. The project will strengthen the development of logistics and new technologies.
