Comprehensive Cybersecurity for Water Supply in Southwest Finland
Duration of the project
Source of funding
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
Total funding
224 671 €
Water supply is an important part of critical infrastructure. Today, key functions and services in society depend on digital systems and networks. Water management organisations are increasingly using digitalisation and cloud-based systems. Cyber threats can seriously affect these systems and cause widespread problems. Collaboration on cybersecurity between all actors in the supply chain will strengthen the resilience of the entire water supply ecosystem.
The Comprehensive Cybersecurity of Water Supply in Southwest Finland project, coordinated by Turku University of Applied Sciences, supports the development of cybersecurity in Turku and Southwest Finland. The project aims to develop information and cyber security in water supply organisations and to disseminate the knowledge and expertise gained to water supply operators in neighbouring municipalities in order to develop wider regional cooperation. The project will develop the administrative and technical cybersecurity capacity of water utilities, improve their security testing capabilities and train their staff. The project will work closely with the Cybersecurity Centre.
