New demonstration area on agricultural water management will be created at Kaarina Tuorla. By taking a short tour at historical agricultural area by the Mylloja ditch and Piikkiönlahti bay shore you can get familiar with several water management measures. In case a visit to Tuorla is not a feasible option, you can take a virtual tour to the agricultural water management park.
The goal of the project is to provide information and examples on agricultural water protection measures. Selected environmentally friendly water management measures target in enhanced agricultural soil quality and crop production.
Information & examples
Both field scale examples and small demonstrations are provided at Tuorla. Project provides information on agricultural water management measures and their environmental impacts. Demonstration area and information are primarily targeted at farmers, but also students and pupils.
Demonstration area will be opened in 2025 and be free of charge for everyone. At Tuorla you will have an opportunity to learn about agroforest, wetland, 2-stage ditch, agricultural soil amendments and controlled drainage, for example.
The project is realized in co-operation with Livia College, the city of Kaarina, the University of Turku, Valonia and the Turku University of Applied Sciences.
