In addition to student housing, Turku and Salo also offer many other types of housing that fit student budgets. You can search for them, for example, on the websites of various housing agencies.

Good to know for path students
If you were accepted after the studies have started
New path students can be selected from the waiting list for a few weeks after studies have started. If you are accepted after the first day of orientation, here’s what to do:
- Accept your path study place on Studyinfo.fi and register as attending.
- Read the instructions on this page and on the program specific page.
- Contact the program contact person mentioned in the starting instructions of your program. They will give you detailed instructions on how to join in the studies.
- There is usually a delay of a few business days between accepting a study place and Turku UAS user ID becoming available for activation. If needed, you can get started with your studies without the user ID.
Once the waiting list is closed, no new path students can be accepted. Only path students selected on Studyinfo.fi can participate in path studies.
Study right and duration of path studies
Open University of Applied Sciences path studies are of limited duration. The right to study lasts for one year (academic year, i.e. two semesters).
- When your studies start in the autumn, the duration of your study period is from 1 August to 31 July.
- When your studies start in the spring, the duration of your study period is from 1 January to 31 December.
You are automatically registered as an attending student at the Open UAS for the entire duration of your path studies. You do not need to register separately for the academic year or semester.
Please note that if you enroll on CampusOnline courses during your path studies, you can only participate on these courses while your path study right is active. Once your path study right ends, any active enrollments on CampusOnline courses made during path studies become unavailable.
Study certificates and TE Office forms
Goverment officials or other institutions may ask you to submit a letter of acceptance or a study certificate concerning your open UAS path studies.
How can I get a study certificate or a transcript of my studies?
If you need TE Office or Kuntakokeilu forms, you can request them from the Open UAS after you have accepted the offer of admission to path studies bindingly in the Studyinfo.
See more detailed instructions for TE office or Kuntakokeilu forms
As a rule, Open UAS enters the forms that the Bachelor path studies are 60 credits and full-time studies. If you intend to study part-time while looking for a job, please indicate this when you ask the Open UAS for a statement on the scope and type of your studies. In this case, we will indicate 35 credits on the form. Students who declare their studies as part-time must ensure that they do not complete more than the limit for part-time studies.
Turku UAS is obliged by law to respond to requests for information from authorities (TE Office, Kela, etc.).
After path studies
Open UAS path studies do not lead to a degree. Once you have completed your path studies, you can apply for a degree study right via separate application through Open UAS.
You should familiarise yourself with the application instructions and requirements before starting your path studies:
- The separate application through open UAS for Bachelor’s degree is organised twice a year.
- The separate application through open UAS for Master’s degree is continuous, except for December and June-August.
As a path student, you can also apply in joint application. If you are granted a degree study right at Turku UAS while still completing your path studies, please have a look at instructions for discontinuing Open UAS studies.
Path studies completed at the Turku UAS will be accredited to Turku UAS degree programs in accordance with the program curriculum. If you are applying to another university of applied sciences with path studies completed at Turku UAS, please check the application instructions and admission policies of the UAS in question.
Can I apply for an extension to my path studies?
You cannot apply for an extension of your path studies.
If you are unable to complete the credits required by the end of the application period for separate application through Open UAS, you can later complete the missing credits by studying individual courses form the Open UAS course selection and apply to degree studies in future separate application periods.
Individual Open UAS courses are subject to a study fee. It is also worth noting that the individual courses offered in the Open UAS course selection may not include the course you are missing.
If you have a large number of missing studies, you can also apply for a new path study right in the same program in the path study application.
What if I have to quit path studies?
Some times life doesn’t go as planned. If you are considering discontinuing your path studies, we recommend that you first discuss your situation with your tutor teacher or study guidance counselor.
If you are absolutely sure that you wish to quit path studies, have a look at our instructions for discontinuing Open UAS studies.
Please note that path studies can only be discontinued as instructed, by submitting a cancellation form. Telling your teacher or other member of staff is not sufficient.
