Help with the recruitment process
If you wish, we can help you design a job/training/apprenticeship advertisement and/or the recruitment process. There is a fee for this service.
If your time is limited, we can also help with the reception and follow-up of applications. We receive applications into the UAS system and sort them according to the application criteria you provide. We will send you both the original applications and the ranked list of applicants electronically after the closing date.
If necessary, we will interview your selected candidates using Thomas HPA analysis. The personal profile analysis will tell you about the person’s approach and working strengths.
You will get answers to questions such as
- What are the person’s strengths and limitations?
- What is his way of communicating?
- What motivates him?
Practical training included in studies
The Bachelor’s degree includes a compulsory practical training of between 30 and 120 credits (approximately 4.5 to 18 months or 100 to 400 working days), depending on the degree. The practical training is carried out in one or more parts during the studies and can also be carried out abroad. Practical training and the modalities, contracts, etc. vary from one degree to another.
Students applying for a practical training will know the practices related to their training and will be able to identify the person responsible for the practical training in their field at the university of applied sciences, who will be able to give you more information if necessary.
The aim of the practical training is to familiarise the student with the tasks of the future profession and to learn how to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies in the field. The practical training is supported by a supervising teacher from the UAS and a supervisor appointed by the placement site. The placement site is responsible for providing the necessary equipment (e.g. software licences and tools) and supervision at the placement site. The level of the tasks involved in the practical training must be progressively more demanding as the student’s skills develop.
The student is responsible for finding the placement and is responsible for the preparation of the placement information and, if necessary, the contracts and the communication between the placement and the school. If the practical training is paid, the salary is agreed between the employer and the student, unless the collective agreement in the field specifies the remuneration to be paid to the trainee.
The UAS recommends paying compensation for the work done. If the student does the practical training in an employment relationship, he or she will sign a written contract of employment with the employer and be insured by the employer. If the practical training is unpaid, an practical training contract is signed instead of an employment contract. In the case of an unpaid practical training as part of a degree, the student is entitled to social benefits for the practical training (even in summer) and is covered by the institution’s accident insurance. In order to be covered by the insurance, the student must submit the practical training contract to the UAS before the start of the internship.
Thesis
The thesis provides an opportunity for the organisation to solve practical challenges and develop its operations with new knowledge and expertise. A work-based research problem or development need is the starting point for a thesis. The thesis may be a market research project, a service or product development project, a process improvement project or any other strategic project of topical interest to the organisation.
Our expert teachers support students throughout the process, ensuring that the end result is of high quality and meets both academic and professional requirements. The client will gain up-to-date knowledge and new perspectives to support their business, while supporting the learning and career development of future professionals.
The scope of the thesis varies according to the field of study, but is at least 15 credits of work-related and business-developing expertise, which corresponds to a workload of about 400 hours. The purpose of the thesis is to produce new knowledge that will serve the company in solving practical challenges or developing new solutions. The thesis will enable the company to improve the functioning of its own organisation and to promote its image as an employer
The thesis is carried out in interaction with the client and the supervisor appointed by the University of Applied Sciences. Turun ammattikorkeakoulu recommends paying compensation for the thesis to the student. Costs and compensation are agreed on a case-by-case basis.
The Bachelor’s degree includes a compulsory internship, the extent of which, depending on the degree, is between 30 and 120 credits (approx. 4.5 – 18 months or approx. 100 – 400 working days). The traineeship is carried out in one or more parts during the studies and can also be carried out abroad. Traineeships and their modalities, contracts, etc. vary from one degree to another.
