International Turku UAS
Turku University of Applied Sciences is an international and multicultural study and work community where internationality is integrated into all our activities – education, research, development and innovation activities as well as cooperation with working life.
We collaborate with our partners regionally, nationally and internationally. The goal of our international activities is to support the strategy of Turku University of Applied Sciences as an impactful higher education institution across the world of work. Through internationalisation, we also aim to increase the quality and effectiveness of our operations.
International activities include, for example, the following areas:
- Internationalisation of education and international student recruitment
- International research cooperation
- International networks and partnerships, influencing at EU-level
- Global education services
The focus areas of our international activities are the coastal states of the Baltic Sea region and the rest of Europe, but Turku University of Applied Sciences also has field-specific partners in Asia and North and South America. In addition, we are involved in RDI cooperation projects around the world. We take ethical aspects and international law into account in all our partnerships.
EU-level influencing
Turku UAS engages in EU-level influencing through partnerships, alliances and networks. The key objective of the work is to support sustainable growth and international visibility in Southwest Finland. We also want to increase the visibility of applied research and areas of expertise in the EU and promote our active role in the EU’s key networks and decision-making. Our goal is to be an attractive and well-known international partner in large-scale EU-funded projects. Turku UAS is a regionally significant actor that can convey the views of regional actors in international networks.
Cooperation between Turku higher education institutions in influencing the EU is also important. Joint advocacy work is carried out with the help of the TrueNET network. The interests of Turku-based higher education institutions are supervised by a jointly paid EU expert in Brussels.
Our international activities play a significant role in developing and renewing international competence in Southwest Finland. Together with international education and research partners, our work also extends beyond our own area of operation. International cooperation is one of the ways to increase the impact of Turku UAS.
