Reports from Turku University of Applied Sciences 212

90 pp, 2015

This publication presents the network of JOCID – Journalism for Civic Involvement, Democracy and Development, which consists of five higher education institutions: Ghana Institute of Journalism, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Polytechnic of Namibia, Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and University of Iringa (Tanzania). The main aim of this publication is to present the experiences, results and successes of eight years of cooperation between these Finnish and the African higher education institutions.

The JOCID Network has been cooperating since 2007. Many years of JOCID cooperation within the framework of the North–South–South programme have proven to be very successful and fruitful. The network has produced remarkable results, particularly in supporting its African partners in their endeavours to build functional radio studio facilities and to develop cross media skills in higher education by using accessible technical solutions.

The JOCID Network is funded by the North–South–South Higher Education Institution Network Programme (2004–2015). The funding for the programme is issued by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The responsible administrator for the programme is the Centre for International Mobility (CIMO) in Finland, while Finnish higher education institutions are responsible for the practical direction of projects in cooperation with their partner institutions.
